Q. Is there a good book to learn more about iguanas?
A. Yes. There are several. The information contained in James Hatfield's 'Green Iguana: The Ultimate Owner's Manual' will enlighten you. If you own an iguana or are considering buying one, do yourself a favor and buy this book. You'll find that this book will change the way you view your pet. You'll become a more educated and understanding caretaker - and your iguana will benefit from it. Melissa Kaplan has also written a great book: Iguanas for Dummies. You can buy either one from Amazon.com right now. Just click on this button to learn more:

Q. How did you get into this business?

A. Way back in 1995, I got online and spent inordinately large amounts of time seeing just what was out here. One fad that caught my attention was the personal journal phenomenon. Before long, I had jumped on that bandwagon and started writing journal entries and creating a huge personal site. I put counters on my pages. I wrote about what was going on in my life. Few people visited. On one page, I wrote about designing and building iguana cages. The counter on that page skyrocketed. Apparently, people were very interested in iguana cages. I got requests to build cages for other people. I decided to buy the domain name lizardcages.com. Since then, I've been working very hard to turn this enterprise into a steady business. Maybe I'll write about it in my next journal entry. To save you several hours of sifting through page after page of endless reportage, let me give you the condensed version: I graduated from college in 1981 and drove directly from Michigan to Silicon Valley, where I hoped to have an exciting career in high technology. I spent the entire go-go '80's jumping around Silicon Valley computer companies, discovering that I didn't want to spend my life stressed-out and working in a cubicle. I moved back to Michigan, down but not out, and started a deck refinishing company -- which was truly great therapy for me -- and then the web came along. I figured that I would get into web design and I spent copious amounts of time studying it. Along the way, I discovered that I could use my modest web design skills to market my own products and services. Now, I get to spend most of my time doing exactly what I love doing. No complaints here. In fact, my first journal entry was called: I can't complain.
